Charcoal sett detail framing porcelain slabs
How we work

Six steps.
No drama, no day-rates, no creep.

Why this matters

Every project we take on follows the same six steps in the same order. It's slower than the average, and it's the reason we don't get callbacks.

01

Enquiry & site visit

You send a brief. We come out, walk the space, take levels and measurements, and ask questions. Allow 45 – 60 minutes. No charge, no obligation.

  • ·We measure, photograph and check existing levels and drainage.
  • ·We talk through what's possible — and importantly, what isn't.
  • ·We listen for the things that matter to you: how you want to use the space, materials you've seen, budget bracket.
02

Proposal & design

Within a week you receive a fixed written proposal — material options, scope, sequence, timeline and a single price you can plan around.

  • ·Material specifications with sample images, not generic stock photos.
  • ·Clear breakdown: groundworks, paving, edges, drainage, lawn, planting.
  • ·Fixed price. We don't day-rate, we don't creep, we don't surprise you mid-build.
03

Schedule & deposit

Once you're happy, a small deposit secures your slot. We give you a real start date and a realistic finish date — and we keep them.

  • ·Materials ordered direct from manufacturer where possible.
  • ·Skip and welfare booked in advance to keep the site tidy from day one.
  • ·We confirm with neighbours and access points before we arrive.
04

Groundworks

Excavation, sub-base, edge restraints, falls, drainage. The bit nobody sees and the bit that decides whether your patio still looks right in year ten.

  • ·Type 1 sub-base laid and compacted in proper layers — not chucked in.
  • ·Falls set with a laser level. Water goes where it should, not where it ends up.
  • ·Drainage outlets, soakaways or channel drains installed before the slabs go down.
05

Paving & finishes

Slabs, blocks, setts, resin or grass go down. Cuts done with diamond blades, joints brushed in, edges crisp. Photographed at every stage.

  • ·Full-bed wet-mix or solid mortar for porcelain — no spot-bedding, ever.
  • ·Cuts sized off-site where possible. Visible cuts kept to the back, never the front.
  • ·Joints filled with the right product for the slab — resin, mortar or kiln-dried sand.
06

Snagging & handover

We walk the site with you, fix anything you flag, hand over a written aftercare sheet, and clean up properly. Then we send the final invoice.

  • ·Workmanship guaranteed in writing.
  • ·Aftercare sheet covers cleaning, sealing and what to avoid in the first weeks.
  • ·We come back if anything needs us — that's part of the job, not an extra.
